Can I Use Dashcam Footage for an Insurance Claim in Malaysia?
Yes. Many of our customers have come back and told us their dashcam footage helped their case with the authorities and their insurer after an accident. Clear video of who did what removes the he-said-she-said and can protect your No-Claim Discount when you weren't at fault.
Why footage matters
In a dispute, the driver with clear evidence is in a far stronger position. A timestamped clip showing the other car running a light, changing lanes into you, or reversing into you gives the police report and the insurer something solid to work with.
Save the clip straight away
Because dashcams loop-record, the footage of an incident will eventually be recorded over. After anything happens:
- Most cameras auto-lock a clip when they detect an impact — but don't rely on it
- Open the dashcam app on your phone and download the clip to save it
